Wildlands Restoration Volunteers

Myrtle Spurge Neighborhood Program

Myrtle Spurge

Wildlands Restoration Volunteers is interested in partnering with neighborhoods (in unincorporated Boulder County?) that are ready to collaborate toward an achievable management plan for noxious weeds with a focus on Myrtle Spurge (Euphorbia myrsinites). With grant funding from Boulder County, the Colorado Department of Agriculture and a 20 year track record of results with organizing volunteers around land stewardship, we can assist your neighborhood with creating a plan to control the spread of Myrtle Spurge from and work toward eradication, which is required by law in Colorado.

If you’re ready to get on top of the weeds in your neighborhood, we can help! Here is how our program works:

We will work with your neighborhood to empower you with the skills and the tools needed to identify, map, plan and treat your Myrtle Spurge infestations. We are here to assist with:

  • organizing your neighbors
  • mapping and tracking infestations
  • teaching identification of weeds and proper treatment methods
  • creating a 3-5 year plan for how to best approach management and treatment of infestations
  • assisting with the planning, management and recruitment of neighborhood weed pulling events
  • providing resources for identifying other common weeds and suitable native replacement plants
  • we even have a cost-share fund for helping with the cost of hiring contract labor or herbicide application for large, or hard to access infestations

This work will take place mostly between January and May – there will be organizing and outreach work in January and February, and the best time to pull Myrtle Spurge is March to early May before it drops seed.
